Affiliate Disclosure
Here, we would like to disclose that and how we at Gear Up Everything handle affiliate links.
Affiliate links and promo codes
In some cases, when you see a product recommendation on this website, you may be redirected directly to the vendor’s website with a so-called affiliate or referral link (if you click on it). In other cases, the products may also come with a personal promo code. This is, if you buy a product from the vendor that you found via our link or buy with our promo code at checkout, we at Gear Up Everything get a commission from the vendor, basically as a small “thank you”. With amazon affiliate links, this means that we as an amazon associate earn something from qualified purchases. Sometimes this commission is only a few cents, sometimes more. Sometimes it is a single payment, sometimes a recurring one.
But here’s the actually important thing: The commission doesn’t cost you anything at all. The entire commission comes out of the vendor’s pocket, not yours. In some cases, you even get a discount if you buy a product through our affiliate links. Regardless: If the vendor earns something “through us”, they pay us for it, not you.
And even if it should go without saying: We never recommend anything just for the commission. We only recommend products or services that we use or have used ourselves, or have been recommended by trustworthy sources and have checked with background research. Ultimately, we cannot only recommend products that we are currently using ourselves – that would not meet our standards and therefore not your standards, as different products are more or less useful depending on the specific situation. Nevertheless, the affiliate products are selected to the best of our knowledge and the selection is as neutral and objective as possible.
We make our affiliate links as easily recognizable as possible. We typically start our blog posts with general information that the post may contain affiliate links. We then usually mark these in the text with an asterisk (*) or as a link (in a button) “to the vendor”. Of course, it is also possible that a post does not contain any affiliate links despite the general information because we also make recommendations from which we do not (want to) earn anything. On the other hand, it is also possible that, despite our efforts, not every affiliate link is individually marked as such. Basically, the best thing to do is to assume that we earn a small commission as an affiliate every time we link to a product or service from another vendor.
If you like this website and find a product we recommend interesting, buying through our affiliate link is a great way to support Gear Up Everything for free and help that we can continue to create good content. Also, as described on our About page: 10% of all profits are donated. All good? Cool!
